Batak Bonanza at the Melbourne Grand Prix
SportSim News
Love it or hate it, the Melbourne Grand Prix creates a unique buzz around the city at this time each year. Corporate hospitality goes in to overdrive with events before, during and after the big race. SportSim loves getting involved in the party, and this year we went back-to-back, attending two Grand Prix events over the March weekend.
The Batak machine is used by racing drivers to improve reaction speed and peripheral vision, so it made perfect sense that the SportSim Batak machine would be in high demand for Grand Prix corporate events. What better way to entertain guests than to let them try their luck using the same technology as the F1 superstars. Perhaps someone would even challenge Lewis Hamilton’s score? (ok…perhaps unlikely after a day of indulgence at the track!).
First stop for SportSim’s Batak was the Friday night function of Sportsnet Holidays. Hosted down at South Wharf, the night had it all…..live music, an auction featuring some amazing sporting memorabilia and a live Q&A with legendary FI champion – Alan Jones. Alongside this action packed itinerary, the Batak machine was the focal point for a competition to win a signed Dan Ricciardo photo collection. With the reaction wall set to the ’60 second accumulator’ game, guests stepped up to strike as many targets as possible in the allocated time. With over 50 enthusiastic entrants, eventually a champion was crowned and presented his prize by Alan Jones (who unfortunately couldn’t be persuaded to take on the Batak!). Thanks to Kelly and the Sportsnet team for getting SportSim involved in a great night.
There’s no rest for the wicked, and the following night SportSim Batak was back in the thick of the action….this time in the centre of town for the National Building Suppliers Group event. Suppliers, partners and customers were in attendance for a slap up meal and entertainment. Our old friend Alan Jones was in attendance again to speak to the guests…perhaps he just couldn’t stay away from the Batak? It was competition time again…this time at stake was a VIP limo transfer to the race the following day. There was no holding back, with a heckling crowd gathered around the machine to encourage (or distract) each bold ‘bataker’. A winner was announced and as the Batak machine headed home for a well-deserved rest, the Natbuild revellers partied in to the night. Again, thanks to Jaclyn for inviting SportSim to be a part of their Grand Prix extravaganza.
Both the Batak Machine and the SportSim sport simulators are the perfect solution for interactive, engaging (and most importantly…fun) competitions at your next work or private function. Get in touch today to discuss the best option for your unique circumstances.
